Guidance for a healthy cat, not veterinary advice — cats with a diagnosed condition, and kittens under 8 weeks, need portions from their vet. Split the day across 2–3 meals and adjust ±10% based on body condition over a few weeks.

This is one day, averaged. CatCulate does this every morning for your exact cat — then checks the taurine, moisture, and protein inside those calories, and fixes tomorrow's bowl.

The math, shown honestly

Resting Energy Requirement: RER = 70 × (weight in kg)0.75 — the standard clinical formula. Daily calories multiply RER by a life factor: neutered adult ×1.2, intact/active ×1.4, weight-loss ×0.8 (of ideal weight), senior ×1.1, kitten ×2.5 (down to ×2 near a year old). Portion grams divide calories by typical energy density per food type.

Real feeding varies by the actual foods in the bowl — which is exactly the part the app manages daily.
